39. Because of Exxon's vow never to pay the $5.3 billion that a federal jury awarded fishers and Natives in 1994, over 40,000 people continue to live in economic and social hardship. Adding insult to injury, there continue to be close calls with fully loaded tankers in Prince William Sound. It seems Exxon has learned nothing.
